Monday, August 31st & Scholars’ Bowl Tryouts

Students continued on with their study of Divisibility Rules today. Many notes were taken in class as well as examples of how to apply each rule. I have uploaded the video we used in class to learn each rule.

I encouraged students to take their math notebooks home with them in an effort to correctly apply each rule as they complete their homework. Please help your student to remember to bring their math notebook back to class tomorrow! We use it daily and it would present such a challenge for a student not to have it in class!

Homework for tonight consists of properly applying the Divisibility Rules to a series of numbers.

Scholars’ Bowl Tryouts begin Tuesday morning, September 1st, and Wednesday morning, September 2nd, in my classroom, A111, at 7:00am!  If you know a lot about a lot of different things, random trivia and such, please come on out and tryout for our Sixth Grade Scholars’ Bowl team!

See you in the morning!

Tuesday, August 25th

Students took their multiplication skills a step farther today as we worked several 3-digit x 3-digit multiplication problems! Once we reached the third digit, many students remembered that you have to place TWO super-hero-zeroes (place holders) when calculating the third digit! I believe they were quite pleased with themselves for remembering!

A short review sheet (20 problems) came home tonight with problems covering addition, subtraction, and multiplication of two, three, and four digit numbers. Remember tomorrow is our post-assessment quiz!

Monday, August 24th and SIXTH GRADE OPEN HOUSE

We continued practicing our 3-digit by 2-digit multiplication skills today in class. We are almost at 100% mastery as we look forward to a post-assessment on these skills Wednesday, August 26th.

I have attached a copy of our homework for tonight. We worked several problems together with the entire class to ensure understanding. Small groups were also monitored to ensure accuracy with procedure.
