YIKES!!!!!

Beware……..tonight’s homework is going to be a handful!

Students reviewed the skill of identifying Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM) today in class. Most students remembered how to identify these numbers but for some, it was like learning a brand new skill!

Tonight’s homework is LONG and many of the numbers are challenging. I encourage students to work on scratch paper and staple it to their homework. Encourage your student to stick with it and find the answers to the problems! Great lesson in perserverance!

Tuesday, November 5th

Students began learning a new skill today……solving 1-step equations. On the surface, the skill looks relatively easy as students want to work the problems out in their heads. However, I have taught them a very specific way to solve the problems which will aid them as they move into more complex equations. Needless to say, students were frustrated with the process however in their best interest, I am insisting students show their work in the format we discussed in class.

Wednesday, October 30th

Classes are still working on Communtative, Associative, and Identity Properties. The Distributive Property was also introduced today and students took notes in their math notebook. This is alot of information to digest all at once, so we have skipped on homework for a couple of nights in order to solidify our thinking & understanding during class.

Homework is coming…….just not tonight! Enjoy your Trunk or Treating at church this evening!!!
