ASPIRE TESTING MONDAY & TUESDAY

ASPIRE testing for your 6th grade student began today! The reading test was administered during 1st and 2nd periods. I am very confident students performed well on this test!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6th, students will take the math portion of the ASPIRE. We have worked so hard this year learning new Common Core standards and once again, I am confident our students are well-prepared and will perform extremely well on the math portion of this state assessment!

NO HOMEWORK FOR MONDAY NIGHT, MAY 5TH

Get plenty of rest & eat a good breakfast on Tuesday morning!

Thursday, May 31st

First, Second, Third Period
Students continued with additional Measures of Central Tendency, specifically median, mode, and range. Students took a large amount of notes in their math notebook today so everyone should have the steps to determine median, mode, and range.

2 assignments for homework tonight for First, Second, and Third Periods
Skills Practice Median, Mode, Range HW for 5-1-2014
Homework Practice Median, Mode, Range HW for 5-1-2014

Seventh and Eighth Period
Students in our afternoon classes learned the process for calculating the mean (or average) of a data set. Remember: find the sum of all the data, then divide by the number of pieces of data. Make sure to identify your answer as the mean.

Homework for Seventh & Eighth Periods
Homework Practice Mean HW for 5-1-2014

Wednesday, April 30th

First, Second, Third Periods
Students in these classes began learning how to calculate the mean (or average) of a set of data today. Remember: find the sum of the data and then divide by the # of pieces of data.

Homework Practice Mean HW for 4-30-2014

Seventh and Eigth Periods
Students in these classes learned how to calculate the volume of a 3D figure today. The formula for volume is V = l x w x h

Finding Volume of Rectangular Prism pg. 2

Tuesday, April 29th

Students began actual calculations of volume today in class. The formula for volume is:

V = l x w x h
Volume = Length x width x height

Only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd periods were in class today due to early dismissal. 7th and 8th periods have a lot of catching up to do! Come ready to work on Wednesday!

Students and Parents! ASPIRE testing begins next week, May 5th & May 6th!

HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 29th
Finding Volume of Rectangular Prism pg. 2

Thursday, April 24th

Students worked on a project today in class. They are constructing four sets of 3D nets, showing how they calculated the number of faces, edges, and vertices. Their project will also include a calculation showing total surface area for the net.

HOMEWORK FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 24TH
none

Enjoy the nice weather this afternoon!!!!!!

Tuesday, April 22nd

To learn how to calculate surface area, students have been working with “nets” of 3D figures. A net is like a blueprint of what a figure looks like when laid out on a flat surface. We have learned to calculate the area of each shape in the net, then add all of those areas together to find “Total Surface Area”.

HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 22ND
2 Solid Fig Rect Prism and Triang Prism HW for 4-22-2014

Thursday, April 16th

Blue Team students began a new unit of study today, Solid Figures & 3D shapes. Our unit begins with very easy concepts such as faces, edges and vertices but it will quickly progress to more abstract concepts such as surface area and volume. Please make every effort to have your student in our math class over the next two weeks as direct classroom instruction is vital to their understanding of these new Common Core standards!

HOMEWORK FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16th
Lesson 10-6 Practice B HW for 4-16-2014
