Students are working on consistently drawing tessellations for the next two days in class! We explored some of the math behind tessellations and students are finding them surprisingly harder to draw than they think!
NO HOMEWORK for MONDAY, MAY 19th
Students on the Blue Team began their 2nd Semester Benchmark Exam today! This test is sent to us from the county and this one is long! For this reason, students will be given 2 class periods to complete the exam and check back over their answers.
Parents, please encourage your student to take a few minutes to look back over their exam and double-check their answers on Friday, May 16th.
Study guides were checked today in class! Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and correct their work to ensure understanding.
Homework for Tuesday night will be completion of the study guide, specifically pages 4, 5, and 6.
Study guides will be taken up prior to the exam on Thursday, so please make sure you bring them with you to class!!

Our Benchmark Exam in math is scheduled for this Thursday, May 15th, and Friday, May 16th.
In preparation for this exam, students began working on a study guide today in class. I encouraged them to utilize a terrific resource that’s right at their fingertips…..their math notebook!!!!
We will go over these problems in class tomorrow to correct any misunderstanding and ensure accuracy. Pages 1, 2 and 3 of the study guide are due Tuesday in class.

ASPIRE testing for your 6th grade student began today! The reading test was administered during 1st and 2nd periods. I am very confident students performed well on this test!
Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6th, students will take the math portion of the ASPIRE. We have worked so hard this year learning new Common Core standards and once again, I am confident our students are well-prepared and will perform extremely well on the math portion of this state assessment!

Students in our afternoon classes learned the process for calculating the mean (or average) of a data set. Remember: find the sum of all the data, then divide by the number of pieces of data. Make sure to identify your answer as the mean.
