HOMEWORK FOR THURSDAY NIGHT, MARCH 21ST
We are continuing with our unit on The Percent Proportion. Students are beginning to understand the procedures a little better and we also practiced identifying what we actually calculated: the part, the whole, or the percent? We had a sheet with 14 problems on it…….we worked the odd #s together as a whole group to make sure everyone understood the procedures and arrived at the correct answer. The even #s were assigned for homework. Please remember to show your work using the percent proportion!
Here are some of the odd # problems we worked together:
Here is tonight’s homework…..remember, even #s only for HW!
We have moved into calculating Percent Proportions and students seem to have picked up on this skill fairly easily even though there are many steps. The Percent Proportion procedures are as follows:
Here are some examples we worked together in class to ensure everyone understood the procedures:
The Percent Proportion will allow students to easily calculate the term of the problem they are missing, be it the whole, the part, or the percent. As always, please have your student show their work!
HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY NIGHT, MARCH 19TH
We wrapped up our unit on fractions, decimals, and percents today and we are looking at a gold test on Monday, March 18th!!!! Study guides were given out today in class and we worked a few from each section together to ensure students understood procedures. Here are the skills that will be assessed on Monday:
Study guides will be taken up for a silver grade so make sure you have them for class on Monday!

Math Antics Dr Pepper method HW for 3-14-2019
We are looking at a BIG GOLD TEST on Monday, March 18th! It will cover these skills:
Students were introduced to the concept of percents today! Students learned that the actual word “percent” means “for each 100” based on the Latin root words “per” and “cent”.
The notes we took today indicate that when you see a % sign, it is literally saying “Put me over 100” and then reduce. Here are the notes we took today in class:
As always, we worked several examples together in class. We also worked several items on the homework together as well. Remember to show where you set the percent over 100 and then reduced!
HOMEWORK FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MARCH 13TH

Here are the procedures & notes we took down today in class:
We worked several examples together as a class to ensure everyone understood the procedures and also how to reduce our answers to lowest terms. We also worked 1/2 of the homework sheet together as well!
HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY NIGHT, MARCH 12TH
We began our unit on converting fractions to decimals to percents today! This is such a fun unit! I encouraged all my students to make sure they are here every, single day as it is so hard to catch up when you are absent!
The one-step to convert fractions into decimals…….DIVIDE!!!!! Here are the examples we worked together in class:
We worked several of the homework problems together in class but I assigned the entire page for homework. Remember to show your work, even if it’s on scratch paper, and staple it onto the back!

Students were given a study guide on Monday night as homework. We worked the entire study guide together as a group during each class period! Study over your study guide tonight & come ready for your test on Wednesday! I will be taking the study guide up as a silver grade!
We are continuing our practice of writing rates, calculating unit rates, and then determining which brand or which option is the “better deal”! Students are really enjoying the fact that this skill can be applied to real-world situations. We worked super hard today perfecting our skill of determining “the best buy”. Here are some examples we worked together in class:
As you can see, Unit Rate always has a denominator of 1 !!!!!
We are preparing for our 3rd Nine Weeks Exam this coming Wednesday, March 6th!!! Students were given a study guide to help them refresh their memory on the following skills:
I have encouraged my students to get any missing assignments in to me before the end of the nine weeks which is this Thursday, March 7th! Once Thursday passes, I will not be able to accept any missing assignments as I have to forward my grades to the office for processing. Check INOW to see if you owe me any work!!!!
Have a great evening!
